That must be the new alphabet
Knowing full well that my movie choice may undermine my elitist shock at the end of this story, I tell it anyway because it makes me laugh (though it may not be as funny if you're not a grammar nerd).

Last night I went to hang out with a friend. I stopped by Blockbuster to rent a movie to watch. We'd decided we'd try out The Family Guy: The Stewie Griffin Story. So, first I looked from the beginning of the F movies until I got to Fever Pitch. No go. So, then I checked the S section for Stewie. Still nothing. Not in comedies, thankfully not in "Family" with the other animated movies.

Huh. Thinking they didn't have it, I started to head out. Then I saw they had a copy for sale. Seemed odd to me that Blockbuster would sell a flick they didn't have available to rent, so I went up to the counter and asked. Sure, they had it, the girl told me. She even looked to make sure it was in stock.

Then she nicely informed me that the shelves were alphabetized, so it was in the F section for Family. She pointed and clarified: right after The Forgotten.

If you'd been there, I'm fairly sure you'd have heard my brain screaming and cackling at the same time.

This has happened to me as well. Doug and I rent movies from Blockbuster on occasion. And their order makes no sense to the unintiated. But there IS some method to their madness. I know this because Nam, the scary Asian kid who works at the Blockbuster we go to, wanted to tell us. But Nam scares me with his cheeriness and his deep voice and so I ran screaming. But there is some order to be found there.

Oh, god, yes, Chad and I have experienced this. It makes me want to go crazy, too. For years, Blockbuster gave me a complex about spelling. I thought I knew what order the letters were in, but Blockbuster told me different. Until I realized that all the movies are out of order. Madness!

I thought you were going to say it was under "T".
